Bullshit system: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Hello readers and thank you for taking the time out of your busy days to read this! I’m sure at one point or another in your life time someone has said if not permanently imprinted it in your skull to “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” most likely by a teacher during grade school. Now one thing I want to point out is I have absolutely nothing against recycling! In fact it is so important for so many reasons but here in Nevada and many other neighboring states such as Arizona, Utah, Idaho and many more they don’t encourage people to recycle at least not by the standards California and Hawaii set out. You know that little print on the label of water bottles or cans or even cardboard food boxes that probably says something like “CA CRV ” and than underneath has a little coin value of probably something between 5 and 25 cents? Well its there for a reason, CRV is an abbreviation for California Redemption Value which means that if you were to bring a bottle or other recyclable items purchased in California you would get back that amount in real cash for each piece. Now your probably thinking Nevada has recycling programs as well so whats the problem? Well the problem is, you get virtually nothing for recycling here and there are very few recycling locations in Henderson, Summerlin, and none in Southern Highlands which means it will it will end up costing you even more money on gas then the money you would actually earn. Why is this you ask, simply because Nevada pays you for the weight value of what your recycling, not the “redemption value”. Now you may or may not be thinking that you’re not suppose to recycle for gain, your suppose to recycle for the environment and again I completely agree but how many of you reading this can honestly say you recycle? Not many right? And how much more inclined would you be if you could earn cash for your trash, probably a lot more inclined and why shouldnt you be? Everyone can use a little extra cash, myself included. Shoot! I save in every way you can, from using paper coupons to returning my used grocery bags to the store, every penny counts in this economy! Any way my point being, Why is Nevada and so many other states not doing more in helping the environment?

Not only does the California Redemption Value help the environment and all our underwater friends but it also helps the homeless. Many homeless make their living off of it. So I ask why, why, why is Nevada not taking part? Seems like such a missed opportunity for us to help ourselves and everything around us.

If you guys can find another minute to spare in your day, I encourage you to read this guys story on his experience with Nevada recycling…. Most recycling locations in Nevada wont even except plastic bottles any more.

Introductions

Hello readers and welcome to my blog. This blog is designed to expression one Vegas girl’s opinion and open people to a different perspective along with supplying people with condensed knowledge about the events happening all around you! Even though you might not realise it there are hundreds of thousands of things happening right in front of you every day and not only are you not aware of things happening right in front of you, your also not aware of how all of these things effect you!

I encourage people to leave comments about their own opinionsĀ on these subjects! One of the most beautiful things humans have to offer is the knowledge in our brains and the ability to convey how those brains think! We are all so different, always seeing things in different lights and point of views…. There are way to many people who believe that its “their way or the highway”, our president being a strong example of this. If this blog even opens one persons mind just a little more than the objective of this blog has been fulfilled.

Thank you and enjoy.
